The Panionios is preparing to make a surprising choice for their new head coach. The candidate in question is 33-year-old Spanish coach Pau Kesada Torrmos, who has been on a break from his agreement with Real Madrid.

The club's management, led by Kostas Ruptsos, initially considered several coaches familiar with the Greek football scene. However, they decided to go in a completely different direction, choosing an outsider with an impressive international background.

Pau Kesada has already arrived in Greece and has met with the Panionios officials. He has been shown around the facilities and is reportedly ready to accept the offer to lead the team. Despite his young age, Kesada boasts significant experience from top football environments in Spain and Italy.

His career began in the academies of Levante and Valencia. He later worked with Almeria, both in the C17 and the first team. Following that, he coached the second team of Elche before making a big move in 2021 to Real Madrid, where he worked with the C17 and the third team, helping them achieve promotion. In 2024, he was part of Torino’s coaching staff in Serie A, and last season, he returned to Real Madrid to coach their women's team.

Although Kesada still has a contract with Real Madrid, this does not seem to be an obstacle to his potential agreement with Panionios. The club is showing readiness to trust a new and ambitious project by bringing in a coach with strong credentials from the top levels of European football.
