The incident occurred in the second half of the match at the Telekom Center Athens, during an unremarkable moment of the game. Kalaitzakis stepped on the glass floor and twisted his ankle, immediately falling to the court in obvious distress.
The medical team of Panathinaikos quickly entered the court to assist him. Shortly after, the international athlete sat on the bench with his leg in a brace. His condition did not permit him to continue playing, and he eventually left the court limping towards the locker room for further examination.
The team now awaits the results of the examinations to determine the extent of the injury. This comes at a crucial time for the "greens", who are trying to regroup after their Euroleague exclusion and focus on winning the championship.
The potential injury to Kalaitzakis adds another headache to Ataman's lineup as the playoffs continue.
