The intensity of the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs brings out high emotions and physicality, often leading to disciplinary action. Through nearly two rounds, several fines and suspensions have been handed out to players and coaches.

The most recent and notable case involved Vegas Golden Knights coach John Tortorella, who was fined $100,000, and the Golden Knights were forced to forfeit their second-round pick in this year’s draft. This decision was due to Tortorella's flagrant violations of the NHL’s media regulations after the Golden Knights' series victory over the Anaheim Ducks.

In Game 5 of the same series, Vegas defenseman Brayden McNabb received a five-minute major for interference on Anaheim center Ryan Poehling. McNabb was then given a 10-minute game misconduct after the play was reviewed. Poehling left the game with an injury, which contributed to the severity of the penalty and resulted in a one-game suspension for McNabb.

In the last game of the Boston Bruins' season, defenseman Charlie McAvoy was suspended for six games for slashing Buffalo Sabres’ Zach Benson. The incident occurred after an icing call, where McAvoy retaliated by slashing Benson's right arm. McAvoy’s suspension will take effect in the next regular season.

During Game 4 of the second round, Colorado Avalanche defenseman Josh Manson was penalized for butt-ending Minnesota Wild center Michael McCarron, resulting in a double-minor penalty. The Avalanche won the game 5-2.

Montreal Canadiens defenseman Arber Xhekaj was fined $3,385.42 for roughing Sabres’ Sam Carrick in Game 3 of the second round.
