Montana Celebrates Cyril and Methodius Day with Parade and Concert
Montana will commemorate Cyril and Methodius Day, Bulgarian alphabet day, education, culture, and Slavic literature with a parade and concert. The event will begin at 9:30 AM with a parade starting from the church of Saints Cyril and Methodius, marching down Bul. "Tretyip Dom," and ending at NC "Razum 1883."
The celebration will continue at 10:00 AM with a concert at the open stage on "Zherevitsa" square. The program will open with the hymn "March, reborn nation." The mayor of Montana Municipality, Zlatko Zhivkov, and the head of the Regional Education Office in Montana, Trayka Traykova, will deliver opening remarks paying tribute to the work of Cyril, Methodius, and their disciples.
The musical and dance program will feature young talents from the vocal studio "Children's Laughter," Dance School "Duga," and Dance Ensemble "Severnyaci" from the Children's and Youth Cultural Center "We, the Chickadees." The event will close with the 125-year-old hymn of Bulgarian education, composed by Panayot Pipkov and based on the poetry of Stoyan Mikhaylovski.
In case of rain, the parade will be canceled, and the concert will take place in the Dragomir Asenov Drama Theater. Following the event, Mayor Zlatko Zhivkov will present the honorary badge of the Montana municipality to distinguished figures in education and culture at a special reception.
