The anticipated exhibition bout between boxing legends Floyd Mayweather and Mike Tyson has been postponed until fall 2026. The original date, set for May 30, was pushed back due to Tyson's recovery from a broken hand. According to a press release from CSI Sport/Fight Sports, both boxers have agreed to the new timeline. The new date, venue, and broadcast plans are expected to be announced soon.
Complications Abound
The postponement adds to the growing list of complications surrounding the matchup. Mayweather is also scheduled to face Manny Pacquiao in a rematch later this year, a fight that was originally planned for September 19 at The Sphere but was canceled due to The Eagles' residency. The terms of the Mayweather-Pacquiao 2 bout are also in dispute, with Mayweather wanting it billed as an exhibition and Pacquiao preferring it to be a professional fight.
Mayweather, 49, hasn’t fought professionally since defeating Conor McGregor in 2017. He has since competed in several exhibition bouts against various opponents. Tyson, 59, last fought professionally in 2005, but has since returned to the ring for exhibition bouts against Roy Jones and Jake Paul, the latter drawing significant ratings on Netflix.
This is such a letdown! I was so hyped for Mayweather-Tyson, but now it's just more delays and drama. When will these legends finally step into the ring? Let's make it happen, guys!
