The ninth edition of the largest handball tournament in the world will take place in Omiš from May 20 to 24. Since its inception in 2017, the event has gained global recognition and popularity among handball enthusiasts worldwide, bringing a record number of participants to Croatia every year. Over 10,000 players from 30 countries across four continents have competed in over 900 matches at the Sports Center Ribnjak in Omiš and Apfel Arena in Makarska.

This year, the tournament is themed "Game is not over," highlighting the organizers' and participants' spirit. A record 79 teams from 20 countries will compete, with matches broadcast live for approximately 115 hours.

The event has seen steady growth, both in terms of participation and organization. For the first time, matches will be held in four venues, with participants staying in four hotels. Mario Čaljkušić, one of the organizers, emphasized the smooth organization of the recent fourth edition of the Masters Basketball World Cup, which ran without any issues.

Besides the competition, various activities, live music, and spectacular opening and closing ceremonies are organized for all participants. Among the notable participants this year is the renowned French handball player Jerome Fernandez (49), who will attend the opening ceremony:

Fernandez expressed his excitement about visiting Croatia, a country he has only known through the lens of a player. He praised the tournament's organization and highlighted its significance for former players to reconnect and share experiences.

Fernandez has played many matches against the Croatian national team and has fond memories of the country and its players.
