Robert Lewandowski (37) has announced his departure from Barcelona. The Polish striker confirmed in a video on social media that he will no longer play for the Catalan club from the next season onwards. After four years in the Barca jersey, he will bid farewell to fans tomorrow at the Spotify Camp Nou in a match that is sure to be emotionally charged.

Lewandowski's contract with Barcelona expires at the end of this July. He joined Barcelona in the summer of 2022 from Bayern Munich and immediately became one of the key attackers. Despite having a somewhat reduced role this season, he continued to showcase his goal-getting instincts.

"Leaving with a sense of mission accomplished"

"After four years filled with challenges, hard work, and unforgettable moments, it's time for me to move on. I'm leaving with a sense that I have fulfilled my mission. These have been four intense seasons in which we won three league titles and returned Barcelona to its rightful place," the Polish striker wrote alongside an emotional farewell video, adding:

"I will never forget the love and support I received from the fans from day one. Catalonia will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you to everyone who was part of this beautiful chapter."

What's next?

Lewandowski has left a significant mark in football playing for Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona. In his career, he has scored over 700 goals and won everything possible on the club level. FIFA named him the best player in the world in 2020 and 2021. For Barcelona, he played 191 matches, scored 119 goals, and assisted in 24 goals.

Recently, several clubs have been linked with the Polish forward, including Juventus, Milan, and the American Chicago Fire. However, Al-Hilal appears to be the frontrunner. Sources close to the club report that the Saudi champions are close to securing his signature and that Lewandowski is "close to accepting" an offer that would end his stay in La Liga.

The offer amount is substantial, even by the recent spending standards in Saudi Professional League. Lewandowski is offered a salary of 90 million euros per season. This would be far and away the most lucrative deal in his brilliant career.
