Miomir Kecmanović secured a decisive victory in the semi-final of the Valencia Challenger tournament, defeating Alejandro Tabil with a score of 2-0 (7-6, 6-3).
The Serbian tennis player advanced to the final of the tournament, outshining compatriot Dušan Lajović, who was eliminated in an earlier round. Kecmanović moved down to the Challenger level to regain his rhythm before the French Open and secured a final spot.
The first set was particularly tense. Kecmanović narrowly escaped two deuce points on break point, then lost two consecutive points to reach 5-5. However, he was relentless in the tiebreaker, not conceding a single point to Tabil and taking the first set.
The second set was more routine. Kecmanović broke in the fourth game and maintained his lead until the end of the match. He secured his place in the final after 96 minutes of play, setting up a trophy showdown against the winner of the Valjko-Munar duel.
Kecmanović is set to climb to at least 54th in the world rankings next week, a significant leap of 16 positions.
Kecmanović's rise is incredible, but can he maintain this form and go deep in the French Open? This is the tournament to watch for Serbian tennis!
