A brutal boxing match was witnessed last night at "Beogradskom pobedniku," where Jovan Nikolić defeated Almir Memić with a unanimous decision from the judges after three rounds.

The punches flew in all directions, and every second of the fight was intense. After the match, Nikolić noted that he did not expect such an outcome in Obrenovac.

- About a month ago, I returned to the ring after an injury. I thought I wouldn't perform well, similar to the European tournament where I didn't achieve much. But here, I got gold, a fantastic result. The first match wasn't special, the second match I was injured, and I didn't give my all. The third match, I gave everything. We almost lost there.

Nikolić mentioned that he considered not participating in this match due to his familiarity with Memić.

- No, it doesn't make sense to waste ourselves, as we know each other. We exchange knowledge with other fighters, but we know each other so well, there's not much progress. That's why I didn't want to do this fight, to flip a coin, and luckily I won. There was talk of reaching the final and doing it, then we talked and said it was pointless. Fair and honorable, it ended that way. The focus is on us, that's it.

A couple of direct hits in the second round changed the rhythm.

- Indeed, I hit him there, praise God. It was the first and last.

Nikolić believes that Serbia sometimes does not get fair treatment by judges on the international stage.

- One thing I fear, again, many cheat us wherever we appear as Serbia, and we are always cheated somewhere. There are hurdles, but we must trust in a higher power. The goal is an Olympic medal.

He described the match as brutal and endless.

- A brutal match, I thought it would never end. Is it over, brother? It's terrible, believe me. I didn't think, I knew he was a warrior who could last until the end. I didn't pay attention to us preparing together. In the end, nothing of that mattered, it was pointless not to do it.
