Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) held its first mixed martial arts (MMA) card on Saturday at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California. The card was promoted as a serious challenge to the UFC’s dominance in the sport. Jon Jones, a former UFC champion in two weight classes, attended the event and claimed it was better than any UFC card he has seen.

‘Absolutely Unbelievable’

“I think the MVP promotion was absolutely unbelievable,” Jones said. “I think it was actually better than the UFC. I’ve never been at such a promotion. I mean they had the fog machines and TVs absolutely everywhere. Great fighters.”

Although the MVP card featured some up-and-coming talent, the main event did not have the world’s top fighters. In the main event, 39-year-old Ronda Rousey submitted 44-year-old Gina Carano. Meanwhile, Mike Perry beat 41-year-old Nate Diaz, who was forced to forfeit after the second round. Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, who knocked out Philipe Lins in the first round, called out Jones after his victory. Jones, who is currently not on good terms with the UFC, is hoping for his release from the promotion.

“Jon Jones said the Ronda Rousey MVP MMA event was better than the UFC,” tweeted @HappyPunch on May 18, 2026.
