A tragic incident has shaken Kyrgyzstan and the global MMA community. Professional MMA fighter Medet Zenalijev, 30, lost his life after heroically saving four teenagers from drowning.

The dramatic event took place at Lake Issyk-Kul, where Zenalijev was spending time with friends. According to local authorities, the teenagers were swimming when a sudden strong water vortex caught them. One of the girls began struggling for air and shouting for help.

In a heroic reaction, Zenalijev and his friend immediately jumped into the lake, successfully rescuing all four girls. However, after the rescue operation, it was discovered that Zenalijev had disappeared under the water and did not resurface.

The search was initiated immediately, and divers found his body the next day. Official reports confirmed that the cause of death was drowning.

This tragedy occurred on May 12, but the news only reached the public later, leaving the sports community in disbelief.

Zenalijev was a welterweight fighter who fought under the Russian flag. In his professional career, he recorded two wins and two losses, competing in well-known organizations such as RIZIN, ACA, and BKFC.

In 2012, he had the opportunity to join UFC, signing a contract, but his debut never materialized as his match against Gabriel Gonzaga was canceled, after which he left the organization without ever competing in the octagon.

However, his final act remains the one by which many will remember him – as a man who sacrificed his life to save others.
