Talks have already taken place between Matchroom and PBC regarding a potential fight between David Benavidez and Dmitry Bivol. Benavidez, currently 32-0 with 26 knockouts, recently defeated unified cruiserweight champion Gilberto Ramirez in Las Vegas. On the other hand, Bivol, who boasts a 24-1 record with 12 knockouts, is the world’s leading light-heavyweight and is set to defend his IBF title against Michael Eifert in Russia later this month.

Bivol’s mandatory defense will take place at the UMMC Arena in Ekaterinburg, Russia, on May 30th. Despite this upcoming bout, Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn is keen to arrange a fight between Bivol and Benavidez before the end of the year.

"We've been speaking to Luis DeCubas and PBC. We like Bivol-Benavidez," Hearn said. "I think it's a big, big fight. And obviously he's got his fight May 30th. Dmitry’s going to want to be in big fights. He’s not going to want to fight guys like Eifert, who’s a mandatory. But he wants to be in the big fights and I think Bivol-Benavidez is the fight to make."
