Fenerbahçe presidential candidate Hakan Safi has reportedly reached an agreement with Italian football legend Paolo Maldini to head the club's football department should Safi win the upcoming election.

The date of the last update:

As the Fenerbahçe congress approaches, the plans of the presidential candidates are becoming clearer. Hakan Safi recently attended the Milan-Atalanta match at the stadium and then met with Fenerbahçe officials in Casa Milan for transfer discussions. It has been revealed that he held a significant meeting in Milan.

Hakan Safi is said to have shaken hands with Paolo Maldini, a legendary figure, to take charge of the football operations if he is elected as the new president.

Maldini has inscribed his name in golden letters in Milan's history. As a player, he exclusively wore the Red and Black jersey, and from 2018 to 2023, he served as the development and then sports director. Under his leadership, Milan won the league championship in the 2021-22 season after an 11-year drought.

If Hakan Safi wins the congress on June 6-7, he has noted that he will grant Paolo Maldini authority over football matters, including coaching selections and transfers.

Paolo Maldini, who owns shares in the US team Inter Miami, would be taking on his first role outside of Milan if he signs with Fenerbahçe, marking a new chapter in his career.
