Hulk Parts Ways with Atlético Mineiro After Six-Year Stint
Brazilian forward Hulk has officially ended his contract with Atlético Mineiro, marking the conclusion of a successful chapter in his career. The 37-year-old star announced the mutual agreement on social media, bringing an end to his five-year tenure with the club.
During his time at Atlético Mineiro, Hulk became a fan favorite, making 111 appearances and contributing 34 goals and 18 assists. His standout performances helped the team secure major titles, including the Brazilian Serie A championship in 2021, as well as consecutive Copa do Brasil victories in 2021 and 2022.
Hulk, whose full name is Givanildo Vieira de Souza, began his professional journey at Vitória in 2005 before moving on to Porto, Zenit Saint Petersburg, and Shanghai SIPG. A veteran of 65 appearances for the Brazilian national team, he has scored 10 goals for his country.
Atlético Mineiro president Alexandre Kalil praised Hulk’s impact, stating, "Hulk has been a key player for us and has left a lasting legacy. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors." While Hulk’s next steps remain uncertain, he has not ruled out continuing his playing career.
