Prominent Serbian paraolympian and artist Dejana Bačko, known for her inspiring and positive energy, has shared her joy over a significant life milestone with her family. Alongside her husband Marko Nezić and their daughter Lara, Dejana has settled into a new family home.
Dejana and Marko, along with their social media followers, generously shared the first glimpses of their new home, showcasing the unpacking and arranging of their living spaces. The couple revealed that they have managed to purchase two properties, a significant life achievement, especially given that they were subtenants just six years ago.
— Six years ago, we were subtenants living in an old apartment. Today, we have our family and two properties that we've earned ourselves. We write our goals, we work hard, we plan, we do… When small hands join, everything is possible. Everything is possible — they posted.
Recently Lost a Baby
It's worth noting that Dejana recently shared the sad news that she and her husband lost their baby in the fourth month of pregnancy. In an emotional post with a photo from the hospital, she bravely explained that during a routine check-up, the doctor noticed something was amiss.
— Our baby didn't have developed upper extremities, and although the heart was beating, it had a severe heart defect — Dejana wrote, highlighting the difficulty of finding the right words for such a moment.
In spite of the indescribable grief, Dejana, who was born without arms but manages to do everything as though she had them, expressed gratitude to the doctors who helped her make the toughest decision. She emphasized that she understands the struggle she has gone through in her life and would never wish the same path on anyone.
During the painful days in the hospital, the greatest strength and comfort came from her husband and their daughter. To bring a moment of joy to Dejana's face, their daughter sent video clips from home, performing "tricks" with a plush teddy bear. Dejana moved the public by highlighting how grateful she and her husband are to already have one healthy, smart, and beautiful daughter, who is their greatest treasure and reminds them daily how precious life is.
Dejana's story is a true testament to resilience and the power of family. It's amazing how far she's come, but I can't help but feel for the heartache of losing that baby. How do you keep pushing forward through such tragedy and still find a way to smile?
