When you are dedicated and train rigorously, there are no boundaries you cannot break. French athlete Kasandra Bogran has been achieving remarkable feats recently, becoming a triple national record holder in a new sport.

The current Olympic champion in triathlon has shattered a long-standing French athletic record in the 5,000 meters. This record-breaking performance came during her first 5,000-meter race since 2016, as she ran an impressive time in Nice on Wednesday evening.

The 28-year-old Kasandra Bogran stopped the clock at 14:40.77, which is also the best European outdoor time for this early part of the season. This performance surpassed the previous French record of 14:43.90, set by Margaret Mori in _2004_.

A Tale of Records

Although she surprised herself with this achievement, this is already the third time in just over a year that Kasandra Bogran has broken a national record for France. Last year, she crushed the record for the 5-kilometer race on the road with a time of 14:53, and then in June, she set a record for the 10-kilometer race, finishing it in 30:52 and becoming the first Frenchwoman to complete this distance in under 31 minutes.

From Track to Triathlon

Bogran previously represented France in athletics in junior categories and participated in three editions of the European Cross Country Championships. Her best result was in 2014 when she placed seventh in the race for athletes under 20.

However, despite her main focus remaining on triathlon, the doors are now wide open for her to compete in her first senior European Athletics Championships, set to take place from August 10-16 in Birmingham. The time she achieved in Nice was significantly better than the qualifying standard of 15:05, but the French Athletics Federation has set a stricter criterion for selection at 14:40, which she narrowly missed.

Kasandra Bogran has been dominant in the triathlon world in 2023 and 2024, combining swimming, cycling, and running skills. She became both the Olympic and World champion in the same year.
