The 2025/2026 season in the German Bundesliga reaches its climax this Saturday, May 16. Although the title race concluded prematurely, the final round promises intense competition on several fronts. Bayern Munich has already secured their 34th Bundesliga title (35th overall in German football history) by amassing 86 points before their last match against Köln. Borussia Dortmund (70 points) and RB Leipzig (65 points) can also breathe easy, having secured second and third positions, respectively.
The biggest question in the upper ranks of the table is which team will grab the final Champions League spot. Currently, Stuttgart occupies the fourth position with 61 points and a goal difference of +22. Immediately behind them, with the same points but a worse goal difference (+17), is Hoffenheim. Bayer Leverkusen is in sixth place with 58 points and a goal difference of +21, maintaining theoretical chances for the top four if their competitors falter.
In this round, Stuttgart will visit Eintracht Frankfurt in one of the most heated clashes, as the hosts are also fighting for a place in the Europa Conference League. Hoffenheim also has a tough away game against Borussia Mönchengladbach, while Bayer Leverkusen hosts Hamburger, hoping for a miraculous turn of events at other grounds.
The seventh position, which grants qualification for the Europa Conference League, is also subject to fierce competition. Freiburg currently holds this position with 44 points, but their program is tough – hosting third-place RB Leipzig. The chasing pack includes Eintracht Frankfurt and Augsburg, both with 43 points. Eintracht hosts Stuttgart, while Augsburg visits Union Berlin. Every mistake by Freiburg could be punished by the pursuing teams, who aim to play in Europe next season.
