Irish football legend Sheamus Coleman has announced that he will retire at the end of the season after spending 17 years with Everton. Coleman, now 37, joined Everton in January 2009 from Sligo Rovers for a mere £60,000 and was named captain in 2019.

"After more than 17 years with this great football club, I have decided that this season will be my last as a player," Coleman stated. Though he has been offered a coaching role at Everton, he plans to decide on his future during the summer.

Coleman surpassed Tim Howard's record for the most appearances in the Premier League for Everton in 2024, reaching 372 matches. Over the years, he has scored 22 goals and provided 24 assists for the club. He will play his final match for Everton next week against Sunderland.
