European Night of Museums: Hundreds of Museums Open Doors Across Romania

Ghijdaje, workshops, special exhibitions, chamber concerts, and screenings, all with mostly free admission, will take place on Saturday, the European Museum Night, in Bucharest and 39 counties across the country. In a single night, 330 museums in 39 counties will open their doors beyond their usual schedule.

The European Night of Museums is a major cultural event across Europe that began in 1997 in Berlin as the "Long Night of Museums." Since 2005, it has become a European brand supported by the French Ministry of Culture, UNESCO, and the Council of Europe. Romania officially joined the movement in 2005. The event is coordinated in Romania by the National Network of Museums in Romania and has continued even during the pandemic, adapting to the context. A notable year was 2022, with a record number of 295 participating institutions in the country and 14 from Moldova.
