Sofia is set to host the prestigious European Grand Prix Open Ramus E6, featuring over 1,000 athletes from nearly 40 countries. The international tournament in Olympic-style taekwondo for youth and cadet categories is organized by Taekwondo Club Ramus in collaboration with the Bulgarian Federation of Taekwondo (Olympic version) and the European Taekwondo Union. The official opening ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 12 PM in Asics Arena. This event marks the first time such a high-ranking tournament in these age groups has been held in Bulgaria, further elevating the country's status on the international taekwondo map. With athletes from over 220 clubs showing significant interest, the competition promises to be exceptionally fierce and of the highest quality.

Participants from countries with strong taekwondo traditions, such as Spain, Italy, France, and Germany, will compete in the youth, girls, and cadet categories in the Olympic discipline of "Sparring." Organizers are proceeding according to plan, and the first athletes will arrive in Sofia several days before the tournament. Dimitar Mihaylov, Vice President of the Bulgarian Federation of Taekwondo (Olympic version) and President of TK Ramus, emphasized the importance of this event. He stated that the top three finishers in each category will earn the right to participate in the final edition of the European Grand Prix, which will be held in Bosnia and Herzegovina in December 2026. Participation in the final edition carries points for both the event and the European ranking list.

"Taekwondo is becoming an increasingly popular and beloved sport in our country. The prestigious rankings of Bulgarian athletes in recent months have further motivated more children and youths to dedicate themselves to taekwondo," Mihaylov stated.
