Etnospor Festival Opens Doors to 24 Countries in Istanbul
The 8th Etnospor Cultural Festival Kicks Off
The 8th Etnospor Cultural Festival, which brought together hundreds of athletes, artists, and cultural ambassadors from 24 countries, officially opened its doors in Istanbul. At the opening ceremony, Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy highlighted the festival’s four core values: peace, solidarity, respect, and tradition. He stressed the importance of culture as a bridge between past and future and emphasized its role in building stronger communities.
Ersoy, alongside World Etnospor Union President Bilal Erdoğan, visited various stands set up at the festival, including those of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) and the Presidency of the Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB). They interacted with visitors and children, serving traditional Dirlik Soup to the citizens and distributing aşure to the attendees.
A Global Gathering of Cultures and Traditions
The festival featured a diverse array of cultures from countries such as Japan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Lithuania, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and Egypt. Minister Ersoy noted that the event would not only showcase traditional sports but also offer a taste of the world's diverse cuisines. He expressed his hope that the festival would promote cultural understanding and appreciation among visitors.
The festival also aimed to raise social awareness and support for communities in need, particularly in Gaza, through solidarity activities organized with civil society organizations.
Festival’s Values and Call to Peace
Ersoy emphasized that the festival’s values were rooted in the importance of peace and solidarity, stressing the need for a strong call to end the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza. He stated that the more these values resonate with people, the greater the step we take towards a shared future.
The opening ceremony also included the presence of various high-ranking officials, including Youth and Sports Minister Osman Aşkın Bak, Health Minister Prof. Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu, AK Party General Secretary and Bursa MP Efkan Ala, AK Party Deputy General Secretary and Istanbul MPs Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya and Zafer Sırakaya, and AK Party Istanbul Provincial Chairman Abdullah Özdemir.
This festival is a beacon of unity and cultural exchange, but can we truly achieve peace and solidarity without addressing the root causes of conflict in Gaza? It's a complex issue that deserves more attention.
