Robert Lewandowski has confirmed his departure from Barcelona at the end of the season, marking the conclusion of one of the most prominent chapters in the Catalan club's modern history.

The 37-year-old Polish striker, who joined the club in 2022 from Bayern Munich for a potential transfer fee of up to €50 million, has made 191 appearances and scored 119 goals. In his first season, Lewandowski immediately brought the La Liga title, ending the season with 33 goals. In the 2024/25 season, he was one of the key players in securing the treble.

This season, however, his role has diminished. He has started only 15 La Liga matches and scored 18 goals in all competitions. Lewandowski addressed the team at a training session, delivering an emotional speech to his teammates and the coaching staff, followed by a public announcement on social media.

On Sunday, he will play his last match at Camp Nou against Real Betis, which will serve as his farewell to the home crowd. "After four years of full challenges and hard work, it's time for a new step. I'm leaving with the feeling that the mission is accomplished," the striker told Barcelona, expressing gratitude to the club, supporters, and president Joan Laporta.

According to The Athletic, the departure was expected earlier, and Barcelona is already planning a forward line reconstruction for the summer of 2026. For now, it is not known where he will continue his career, though he has not ruled out moving to a less demanding league to prolong his playing career and enjoy the final years of professional football.
