Bulgarian tennis player Elizara Yaneva advanced to the second round of the WTA 125 singles tournament on clay in Istanbul, Turkey. The tournament offers a prize fund of $115,000. Yaneva, 19 years old, convincingly defeated Turkey's Ayla Aksu with a score of 6-4, 6-1. The match lasted one hour and sixteen minutes. This victory marks Yaneva’s first win in a WTA tournament, and she currently ranks 224th in the world. In the first set, Yaneva missed two break points at 3-3 but managed to break through and take the lead at 4-3. At 5-4, Yaneva served for the set and closed it with a decisive 6-4. In the second set, Yaneva dominated, winning five consecutive games from 1-1 to 6-1, securing her triumph. Yaneva will face 25-year-old French player Alice Tubelot, ranked 256th in the world, in the second round. Earlier on the same day, Izabella Shinikova was eliminated in the final round of the qualifiers for the same tournament.
