Romanian coach Edi Iordănescu, 47, is reportedly on the brink of signing a lucrative contract with a Saudi Pro League club. After parting ways with Legia Warsaw at the end of last year, Iordănescu has been free to sign with any club. According to Arab journalist Ahmed Ragab, Iordănescu is in advanced negotiations with a Saudi club and is set to begin coaching in the Saudi Pro League in the 2026-2027 season.

Iordănescu has been out of contract for nearly seven months and is eager to return to coaching. The summer break is seen as the ideal time for him to take over a new team, allowing him to prepare the squad as he sees fit.

In February of last year, Iordănescu received an offer from Al-Taawoun in Saudi Arabia, but he declined it in favor of signing with Legia Warsaw. Now, it seems he is ready to accept a lucrative deal in the Saudi Pro League, where Romanians are highly regarded.

The Saudi Pro League is one of the most coveted leagues in the world due to the enormous salaries offered by the wealthy Gulf states. Iordănescu's signing would be a significant move, reflecting the league's growing appeal to top-tier European coaches.
