Twice Daniel Dubois has attempted to unseat the great Ukrainian heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, but both times he fell short. Now, as the new WBO heavyweight champion, Dubois may finally be ready to defeat Usyk.

Dubois' Journey and Mental Growth

Warren believes Dubois' victory over Fabio Wardley in their epic brawl has been a turning point for the champion. "He's grown up mentally," Warren told Sky Sports. "Physically, he's there, but mentally he's grown into this now, and I would like to see that fight again."

Dubois' first encounter with Usyk in 2023 ended with him being counted out in the ninth round. In their second fight last year, Usyk knocked Dubois out in the fifth round. However, Dubois has rebuilt and reclaimed a world title after the recent victory over Wardley.

The Case for a Third Fight

"When you look at AJ being elected, he's been put forward to go in there, a two-time world champion quite rightly — he beat AJ. He did a job that no one else did on AJ," Warren noted, referring to Dubois' victory over Anthony Joshua in 2024.

Dubois' team also believes he has improved sufficiently to take on Usyk again. "The experience that Usyk has over Daniel, that's all it was," said Mohammed Ali, Dubois' head of boxing performance analysis. "However, if there was a third fight, I can guarantee you it would be the same approach as with Fabio and even better."

The boxing world will be watching closely to see if Dubois can finally unseat the undefeated Usyk.
