The Croatian football season is winding down, and Dinamo Zagreb will face Slaven Belupo in their penultimate match of the SuperSport HNL season, scheduled for 4 PM on Sunday. Dinamo has already secured the league title, while Slaven Belupo is currently mid-table. Dinamo's coach, Mario Kovačević, has expressed optimism about the upcoming matches and the possibility of breaking a scoring record.
"We've had a fantastic season, and the winter training was the turning point. We played consistently well, which was evident in the Cup final and throughout the league. If we score five more goals in the remaining two matches, we could break the record for the percentage of goals scored in the second half of the season," Kovačević noted.
"We aim to achieve all our goals, why not this one too? Matches against Belupo and Lokomotive won't be easy, but we'll put together a strong team. Some players have been given rest. We are Dinamo, and we always aim for victory. We will approach these last two games with the same mindset."
Kovačević also mentioned that Mišić, McKenna, and Zajc will not be competing due to rest, but other players will be given opportunities to prove their worth to the club. "There won't be any problems on that front. Some junior players will also be part of the squad."
The coach also commended Slaven Belupo's recent performance under coach Mario Gregurine, noting their recent victory. "I congratulate them on their last win. I know Mario is a good and quality coach, but when the match starts, my team will give everything to win and celebrate my birthday."
Dinamo's record-breaking run is so impressive, but I can't help but feel it's a bit of a hollow victory without a real challenge. Shouldn't the focus be more on maintaining team chemistry and preparation for next season? What do you think, fellow fans?
