Dimitar Kisimov Off to Strong Start in Serbian Clay Court Tennis Tournament
Young Bulgarian tennis talent Dimitar Kisimov has advanced to the second round of a clay court tennis tournament for men in Kurshumlijska Banya, Serbia. The tournament has a prize fund of $15,000.
The 18-year-old Kisimov defeated Iran’s fourth seed, Ali Yazdani, in the first round with a score of 4:6, 6:3, 6:3, after almost two hours of play. In the first set, Kisimov lost with a single break in the ninth game, but in the following two sets, he capitalized on early breaks and prevented Yazdani from catching up, turning the match around.
This was only Kisimov's second win and first of the season in his third appearance in a singles event in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) men’s circuit. For a place in the quarterfinals, he will face the winner of the match between Christian Johnov (Germany) and Kristijan Jurak (Serbia).
In the doubles draw, Bulgarian players Mikhail Ivanov and Radoslav Shandarov will face Nikola Jovic (Serbia) and Viljami Mirarki (Italy) in the first round.
