Dan Sucu has decided to part ways with several key staff members at Rapid București after the departure of coach Costel Gâlcă, leaving the team without a head coach at the end of the season. Gâlcă, 54, failed to qualify the team for European cups and announced his departure following the FC Argeș - Rapid 2-2 draw.

Several departures were announced shortly after Gâlcă’s exit. At least four officials are expected to leave at the end of a season that fell short of expectations. Mauro Pederzoli, 64, the sporting director, announced his departure in March, marking only one season at the helm of the club.

Three other administrative staff members are preparing to leave: Mircea Mereuță (executive director), Andi Amironoaiei (branding manager), and Diana Florescu (legal advisor).

During the season, Rapid also saw the departures of Daniel Sandu (former sporting director) and Daniel Carciug (former marketing director).

In place of Pederzoli, Rapid brought in Marius Bilașco, 44, from CFR, while the possibility of Bogdan Mara, 48, joining as Bilașco’s colleague was rumored. However, Victor Angelescu, 41, the minority shareholder, only confirmed Bilașco’s arrival as the new sporting director.

One of Dan Sucu’s close associates and Victor Angelescu spoke about the potential departure of the millionaire. Since acquiring 50% of the club’s shares on May 24, 2022, Dan Sucu has invested tens of millions in the club and its training ground, but results have been slow to materialize.

“Enthusiasm has its limits. Year after year, you pay, invest, and bring in players. You reach a point where people laugh at you for paying so much and being fair and providing a new training ground worth several million. How much enthusiasm can you have? God forbid he loses his enthusiasm and says, ‘Do what you do and figure it out on your own!’” Robert Niță, a commentator for Fanatik, said.
