Following in the footsteps of Marko Sedlček three years ago, Croatia has once again claimed the EuroLeague throne in European volleyball. Gabrijel Cvanciger (22) played a pivotal role in helping Perugia secure the EuroLeague title. In the final of the concluding tournament held in Turin, the Italian team defended their previous title by defeating the Polish team Zawierce with a clean 3-0 score.
The Italian champions demonstrated absolute dominance throughout the season, winning the Italian championship, the Italian Super Cup, and the World Club Volleyball Championship. They fell short only of the Italian Cup. In the semi-finals, Perugia also won all sets against Warsaw's Projekt.
- We aimed for all five titles, but we didn't quite make it. Nevertheless, we have four gold medals around our necks, and I must thank everyone - said the young Sisak player, who is soon expected to join the national team.
The EuroLeague final marked the last match in the career of Massimo Colajanni (41), the Italian libero who won the MVP award as the oldest player ever to receive such recognition in the EuroLeague and the first libero to do so.
The Turkish team Ziraat claimed third place for the first time in their history.
This is an amazing achievement for young Gabrijel Cvanciger and Perugia! But can Croatia continue this success in the upcoming international competitions? Let's see if they can keep up this momentum!
