The Gathering Begins

The drums are beating. The stage is set. Croatia’s national football team has officially commenced their preparations for the upcoming World Cup, kicking off their camp at the prestigious Sheraton Zagreb hotel. The tournament, a global spectacle spanning Canada, Mexico, and the United States, begins on June 11, but the work starts now. Head coach Zlatko Dalić is building his arsenal, and the first wave of warriors has already reported for duty.

Currently, nine players are on the ground, ready to sweat for their country. The initial squad includes veterans and rising talents alike: Ivan Perišić, the tireless engine; Andrej Kramarić, the striker with ice in his veins; goalkeeper Dominik Livaković, the wall; alongside Luka Vušković, Martin Erlić, Kristijan Jakić, Toni Fruk, Igor Matanović, and Dominik Kotarski. They are the foundation. The spark.

The Full Squad Assembles

But this is just the opening act. The first training session is scheduled for Monday at 7:00 PM, followed by a second session Tuesday at 6:00 PM. The rest of the roster, a formidable group of 17 additional players, will join the fold by May 29. By Friday, Dalić will have his complete army at his disposal, ready to drill, to fight, to unify.

Among the stars joining later are Luka Modrić, the maestro; Mateo Kovačić, the midfield general; Joško Gvardiol, the defensive rock; and Josip Stanišić, the dynamic fullback. Also arriving are Ivor Pandur, Duje Ćaleta-Car, Marin Pongračić, Mario and Marco Pašalić, Nikola Moro, Petar and Luka Sučić, Petar Musa, Nikola Vlašić, Ante Budimir, Martin Baturina, and Josip Šutalo. The depth is staggering.

Friendlies and the Road Ahead

The real test begins soon. Croatia’s first preparatory friendly will take place in Rijeka on Tuesday, June 2, at 6:00 PM, against the mighty Belgium national team. It is a clash of titans, a dress rehearsal for the war to come. Following that, they face Slovenia on June 7 at 8:45 PM.

Then, the World Cup looms. Croatia is drawn against England on June 17 at 10:00 PM, Panama on June 24 at 1:00 AM, and Ghana on June 27 at 11:00 PM. Every minute counts. Every tackle matters. The journey to glory starts in Zagreb.
