Croatia and Germany have taken another significant step towards strengthening their bilateral relations by signing a Joint Declaration on Enhanced Cooperation that will guide their partnership until 2030. The declaration was signed on May 8, 2026, during a visit by Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić Radman to Berlin, where he met with his German counterpart, Johann Wadephul.
Key Aspects of the Cooperation Plan

This move underscores the growing importance of bilateral ties between Croatia and Germany, which have been steadily improving since Croatia joined the European Union in 2013.
Minister Grlić Radman highlighted the significance of this agreement in fostering closer economic ties and promoting mutual interests. The plan also includes provisions for increased cultural exchanges, student mobility, and joint research projects, which are expected to benefit both nations.
German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul emphasized the role of Germany as a key partner for Croatia, expressing his commitment to supporting Croatia's aspirations and development goals. The signing of this agreement is seen as a milestone in the ongoing efforts to deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries.
