Cristi Chivu, the Romanian football coach, sent a heartfelt message to CSM Reșița on the club's 100th anniversary. The event took place just days after Chivu's team won a tournament in Italy. CSM Reșița, which launched Chivu into the professional football world, holds a special place in his heart.

CSM Reșița, a club based in Bârzava, played a significant role in Chivu's early career. He spent his junior years with the club until 1998 before moving to Craiova. Despite his success and rise in the football world, Chivu never forgot his roots at Reșița.

The celebration of the club's centenary took place on May 16, 2026. Although Chivu was unable to attend in person, he recorded a message of congratulations: "Happy birthday, CSM Reșița! 100 years of passion and achievements. This club gave me many things, instilled values in me, and helped me navigate life. It's a truly special occasion for the club and its supporters. It's a source of pride for the few clubs that manage to reach this milestone."

Chivu's message was broadcast on the stadium's large screen and shared on the club's Facebook page. The celebrations included an event titled "Reșița football – a century of stories," followed by an archive exhibition. Motorcyclists from the Guerilla MC Reșița club led a parade from the stadium to Câlnic. The festivities concluded with sports competitions and an anniversary match between CSM Reșița All Stars and Poli Timișoara All Stars.

CSM Reșița is the third oldest club in Banat, after Chinezul Timișoara (1910) and Poli Timișoara (1921). The club has one championship title from 1931 and a Romanian Cup from 1954.
