The Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) has officially launched its Academic Network, a platform designed to foster cooperation between academics and policymakers in the Western Balkans. This initiative was unveiled in Tirana, Albania, during the country's current chairmanship of CEFTA.

Strengthening Cooperation

The Academic Network aims to enhance collaboration between academic institutions and government policymakers as the Western Balkans progresses toward integration into the EU Single Market. The network will serve as an open platform where young academics can contribute research and engage in discussions that influence policy decisions.

Research Award for Young Scholars

As part of this initiative, CEFTA has also introduced a Research Award for young academics. This award is intended to recognize and support the work of promising researchers in the region, encouraging them to produce high-quality research that can have a tangible impact on policy development and implementation.

The launch event in Tirana marked an important step in CEFTA's efforts to promote academic excellence and policy innovation in the region. By integrating academia more closely with policy-making, CEFTA hopes to accelerate the Western Balkans' integration into the EU.
