Burgas is making a bold play to host the Eurovision Song Contest in 2027. Following Bulgaria's impressive performance at Eurovision 2023 in Vienna, Mayor Dimitar Nikolov publicly announced Burgas's ambition to welcome the next edition of the contest. In his social media profiles, Nikolov shared a video where he sips coffee from a cup with the inscription "Eurovision Song Contest Burgas 2027," delivering a powerful message online.

"The mission continues, the cause deserves it. Bangaranga!" Nikolov declared, using the iconic phrase from the 2023 entry.

Nikolov was the first mayor to express the desire for his city to host the competition. He stressed that Burgas's bid is more than just a public relations stunt but a genuine opportunity. "Sofia has the right to host Eurovision up to this year, but if there is a competitive edge for organization, Burgas can take it. In terms of infrastructure and amenities, we are on par with the capital and often better," he stated.

Burgas's main advantage, according to Nikolov, is the Arena Burgas, which can hold up to 15,000 spectators when standing. He also highlighted the city's transport connections, proximity to the airport, and substantial hotel infrastructure in the region, including Nesebar and Sunny Beach.

Nikolov reminded viewers of Burgas's experience with major international events, such as the Spirit of Burgas festival, which featured a concert by Robbie Williams, and hosting the start of the Giro d'Italia.

Meanwhile, Sofia has officially expressed its readiness to host the contest. Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev announced that the city is ready to welcome Eurovision in 2027. Plovdiv and Varna have also expressed interest in hosting the event.
