Bulgarian swimmers achieved eight victories on the first day of the International Swimming Tournament "Gran Prix Burgas - Mayor's Cup 2026."

Daren Kirilov secured a dominant win in the men's 100m backstroke with a strong performance, finishing in 55.06 seconds, just 0.10 seconds shy of the national record set by Kaloyan Levterov. Following Kirilov were Adrian Yoninov and Nikolay Levterov from the "Sprint Sofia" club. In the women's event of the same discipline, Gabriele Georgieva from "Olympia" achieved the best time of 1:02.01 minutes.

Ema Dimitrova and Svetozar Nikolov brought victories for the VSU club. Dimitrova won the 800m freestyle (9:30.70 minutes), and Nikolov emerged victorious in the 400m individual medley (4:28.62 minutes).

Viktor Hristov from "Plovdiv 2019" won the men's 100m freestyle final with a time of 50.89 seconds, followed by Yovan Yanakovsky from "Vardar" and Petar Mitsin from "Vihren."

Diana Petkova from "Sprint Sofia" triumphed in the women's 50m breaststroke with a time of 31.42 seconds. Kaloyan Dragiev from PSK "Black Sea" was the fastest in the men's 200m butterfly start with 2:08.56 minutes, while Gerghana Lukanova from "Metropol" won the same event for women with 2:40.22 minutes.

Strong results from Bulgarian swimmers were also recorded in junior competitions. In the younger girls' 100m backstroke, Sianna Mitova from "Olymp" excelled with a time of 1:07.29 minutes. In the older girls' group, Simona Ivanova from "Olymp" achieved 58.45 seconds in the 100m freestyle, closely followed by Karina Mitrova from "Olymp," Aleksandra Toleva from VSU, Aneta Hristozova from VSU, and Mihaila Stefanova from "Dobrudja 2021." In the older boys' 50m breaststroke, Teodor Stanchev from "Dobrudja 2021" achieved 28.85 seconds, and in the 100m freestyle, a tight race saw Dimitar Damyanov from "GD Sport," Hristo Petkov from "Plovdiv 2019," Dimitar Dokuzov from "Vihren," Damyan Georgiev from "Akulite," and Martin Yusev from "Mladost '91" finishing closely together.
