Bulgarian junior champion for 2025, Ivan Ivanov, has secured a spot in the singles quarterfinals of the clay court tournament for men in Vic, Spain, with a prize fund of $30,000. The 17-year-old defeated Jamie McKenzie from Germany in the second round with a score of 6-3, 6-3. The match lasted exactly 100 minutes. Ivan managed to break serve early in the first set, winning three consecutive games from 3-3 to 6-3. He continued to dominate in the second set, leading 3-0 and eventually closing out the match 6-3.
In the semi-final, Ivanov will face the winner of the match between the 8th seed, Sergio Perez Contreras from Spain, and Radu Turcănu from Romania.
Another Bulgarian, Ilian Radulov, will play his second-round match later today against the 5th seed and home country representative, Alex Marti Puig-Hollras. Radulov is currently on an eight-match winning streak, having won the singles title at another tournament in Spain last week.
This is such an exciting time for Bulgarian tennis! Ivan Ivanov and Ilian Radulov are making us proud, but can they keep up this momentum and bring home more titles? Let's hope so!
