Beşiktaş Experiences Another Disappointing Season in Süper Lig

Beşiktaş ended the 2025-2026 Süper Lig season in fourth place with 60 points, failing to reach their major goal of the Turkish Cup. The black-and-white team has not been a serious contender for the league title in the last five seasons, disappointing their fans once again.

Beşiktaş concluded the 2025-2026 Süper Lig season with a match against Çaykur Rizespor. The black-and-white team finished the season in fourth place with 60 points, after 17 wins, 9 draws, and 8 losses over 34 weeks. The team scored 59 goals but conceded 40.

The season began under the Norwegian coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. However, after Beşiktaş's early exit from the European cup play-offs, Solskjaer was replaced by Sergen Yalçın. This change was part of a trend where the club has employed nine different coaches over the last five seasons, from Önder Karaveli to Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

The squad saw significant changes this season. Nineteen players joined the team, while 34 players left. Additionally, 25 out of the 35 players who attended the preseason camp in Austria were sent away. Among the players who joined the squad were David Jurasek, Tammy Abraham, and Wilfred Ndidi, while players like Gabriel Paulista, Jonas Svensson, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain left.

Another unexpected decision came when Necip Uysal, who has worn the black-and-white jersey for 22 years, was left out of the squad. At 35 years old, Uysal announced his retirement from football following this decision.
