Jovan Simić has released his second book, a unique sports novel titled "Devetka," which is the first of its kind to bravely address the mental challenges, traumas, and poor decisions that can later ruin young athletes' careers. "Devetka" is a profound and layered contemporary drama about the rise, fall, and redemption of a former great football talent from Užice, Saša Golubović. The Belgrade promotion of the novel will take place on Saturday, May 16, at 7:30 PM at Dorćolu (Svemirski ranč), featuring prominent figures from the sports world.
After its premiere promotion in Užice, where it was launched at the stands of the "Radomir Antić" stadium, and later in the splendid atmosphere of Indija, the time has come to discuss the themes that dominate this sports novel in the capital.
The Belgrade promotion is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, at 7:30 PM, at "Svemirski ranč" on George Clemenceau Street 29g in Dorćolu. The narrative of the novel oscillates between the present-day life of Saša Golubović in his hometown Užice during 2021 and 2022 and flashbacks that trace his turbulent career from the mid-1990s, starting from his beginnings at the Užice Sloboda club until its end in 2016. While deeply rooted in the world of football, with its atmosphere of locker rooms, transfers, and the pressure that comes with it, "Devetka" is much more than a sports novel. It is a psychological novel and sports fiction, a book where the inner struggle of the protagonist, his family wounds, dependencies, and the process of mental healing intertwine with an authentic and unforgettable depiction of the football world.
The novel's reviewers include professional athletes, former basketball and football representatives, Miroslav Raduljica and Jovan Nišić, as well as literary critic Aleksandra Drakulić. The promotion in Belgrade will feature renowned basketball player Miroslav Raduljica and Professor Aleksandra Drakulić, alongside special guests Professor Vladimir Koprivica and the celebrated coach and former footballer Ilija Stolica, who is a true inspiration both on and off the field due to his versatility.
