Belarus Conducts Large-Scale Nuclear Weapon Exercises

The Ministry of Defense of Belarus has announced the commencement of large-scale military exercises involving units responsible for nuclear weapons usage and security. The exercises involve rocket and aviation units from Belarus, with collaboration from Russian forces.

The exercises are designed to simulate the transport and preparation of nuclear ammunition. Objectives include improving personnel readiness, verifying the condition of weapons, military technology, and specialized equipment for operational tasks. The Ministry highlighted the focus on camouflage techniques, long-distance relocation, and the calculation of force and resource usage.

“This exercise is a planned training activity within the Union State and is not directed against third countries or a threat to regional security,” assured representatives of the Ministry.

In September last year, during Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) exercises in Belarus, nuclear weapon usage planning was practiced, involving military personnel from Belarus, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan. Following these, the joint Belarusian-Russian drills “Zapad-2 2025” took place, where nuclear weapons usage planning and the “Oreshnik” missile system were also rehearsed. Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin stated that these measures are a response to the militarization at the country’s borders, particularly the establishment of a group in Poland.
