Bayern Analyzes Details After Champions League Semi-Final
Bayern Munich's head coach Vincent Kompany spoke to the media before their upcoming away match against relegation-threatened Wolfsburg. The primary topic of discussion was the recent Champions League semi-final match against Paris Saint-Germain, which Bayern drew 1-1, thus failing to advance to the final.
Vincent Kompany on the mood within the team after the CL exit: "It's normal to be disappointed. It was a huge goal that takes a lot of strength and energy. "It's normal to be disappointed. This was a huge goal that required a lot of strength and energy. But from the very next day, my only focus is on what we can achieve in the future. That's what I want to lead by example," Kompany began.
Kompany addressed criticism of the team's defensive play and conceded that the match against PSG was played down to the smallest details. "We are pragmatic, not romantic. With an 81-goal difference in the league, which is a record, we've made sure that we can't lose. We want to keep what makes us strong and win. The match against PSG shows that small details matter a lot. We need to improve some things. But it wasn't that the opponent was much better than us. We just need to improve in the details," he added.
Kompany: "Alphonso Davies is out tomorrow. Based on the scans, we'll see how long he's out for. It's a muscular issue" pic.twitter.com/O4uxy3ZT1Q

Kompany also noted that Alphonso Davies will not play tomorrow, as he has a muscular issue. He also congratulated Freiburg for qualifying for the Europa League final and wished them good luck.
The sporting director, Christoph Freund, who was also at the press conference, commented on the semi-final match with PSG and the referee's decisions: "Two evenings later, the disappointment is still huge. We felt good and were confident we could do it. But for everything to go well, the small things matter. There have been many discussions about the referee. It's always best to focus on the game rather than the referee's decisions. It was clear that there were many decisions that were not in our favor. But it's not worth talking about now. We are always in contact with UEFA; the goal of all clubs and UEFA should always be to focus on the game, not the referee's decisions."
Freund on the squad planning and whether the Champions League exit will change things over the transfer strategy: "The conditions were very good against Paris; it came down to the details. The game didn't go as we had hoped. But this season has been exceptionally good – we're… pic.twitter.com/IhakIQvodT

Regarding the summer transfer strategy, Freund said, "We are very happy with our current squad, but we want to improve in the details. The match with PSG did not change this approach. We want to maintain our principle of not having an overly large squad. We aim to bring back a second trophy to Munich; we are at a very high level. And actually, it would be a third trophy this season with the Super Cup."
Freund also confirmed interest in Torbine Kvaratskhelia, the brother of Hwicha Kvaratskhelia: "He trained here and played a friendly match. He is a talented young player. We will see what happens."
