Ioan Andone (66), a former star player and coach at Dinamo Bucharest, revealed that he was close to purchasing the team from "Ștefan cel Mare" before the current shareholders reached an agreement. Although the club's acquisition price was a symbolic 500,000 euros, "Fălcosul" pulled back due to the disastrous financial situation of the "red dogs."
Andone confessed that he was tempted to invest in Dinamo, but the enormous debts, amounting to 8 million euros, made him hesitant. Before making a final decision, Andone consulted with Mircea Lucescu and Ionuț Lupescu. He also spoke twice with the former major shareholder, Dorin Șerdean.
Ultimately, the significant risk of bankruptcy deterred the former international from investing. "I had the intention, but I stopped. Before the current shareholders bought Dinamo, I had an intention, but I couldn't find the right partners and I was terrified by the 8 million euros in debt."
Andone announced that he has largely stepped back from the business world and categorically ruled out the possibility of a personal investment in Dinamo. However, he believes the current moment is ideal for other investors, considering the financial stability and the new stadium project in the heart of the capital.
In his opinion, the future arena will ensure a solid fan base for the club, estimating between 12,000 and 15,000 subscribers. While he refuses to return, Andone suggests that his son could take this opportunity.
I can't believe Andone almost bought Dinamo! His hesitation makes total sense, but it's a shame he pulled out. What if his son decides to take the plunge? The future of Dinamo could be in good hands!
