Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayındır has made revealing statements about his transfer from Fenerbahçe and his relationship with the club's former president, Ali Koç.

"I HAD OPEN CONVERSATIONS WITH OUR PRESIDENT"

Speaking about the period when he was transferred to Manchester United, Altay revealed:

"When the offer came to our president, I told him about it. I enjoy playing openly. No one can predict when they will die. At least when you die, the only things you leave behind are your character, personality, and integrity. Nothing else. So, I had a conversation with our president about this and shared my thoughts. I went through the medical tests, came back, and then we consulted with the president. I underwent surgery, came out of it, and started again. Another transfer offer came to me. At that time, I could have signed the protocol. There was no problem, and everything was supposed to be official. During the period when I was criticized and considered injured, everything was piling up. I had been working with a psychologist for a long time. We had intense sessions. It was a very tough period. Then another transfer offer came. I got back on my feet, the training camp came, and then we consulted with the president. Of course, the events I mentioned about coming to the facility and watching happened after what I am now explaining. I told our president, 'Mr. President, I want to act in the interest of our club, to do something. We can extend the contract, and after extending it, we can inform the other party. If there is a desire to leave or stay, we can evaluate it accordingly.' The president was very affected by this. He even said it at the airport. We had many positive conversations with him in the stadium. He did his best, but there were times when he didn't get the expected response. No one is perfect, and he had his moments of mistakes. Then a process like this happened."

"HE SPENT ABOUT 3-4 HOURS WITH US AT THE AIRPORT"

Altay emphasized that he signed a contract with Fenerbahçe during that period: "We told Manchester United about this. They accepted it. My contract had an exit clause. After a certain amount of payment, I could go there freely. This way, the club also earned money. Then the transfer took place. Our president and managers came to the airport. This event was very well received by them. Our president spent about 3-4 hours with us at the airport. He gave an interview about the events there. The process happened like this. Then we took our suitcases, got on the plane. We landed and looked around, and it was a completely different place. It felt like Ankara. Different places, different cities, different languages. I thought I knew English, but I struggled a lot in the first period. I struggled a lot in the first year. In our country, every place has a different accent and dialect. It's the same here. But living here, being here constantly, helps you learn it quickly."
